Slower check-ins, longer queues at the airports and increased wait times are expected at the IndiGo counters at airports today as the domestic airline is facing a system outage. In a social media post on X, IndiGo said it is currently experiencing a "temporary system slowdown" across their network, affecting their website and booking system.

"We are currently experiencing a temporary system slowdown across our network, affecting our website and booking system. As a result, customers may face increased wait times, including slower check-ins and longer queues at the airport," the airline said.



IndiGo facing system outage

The airline further said that its team was working to sort out the technical glitch and bring the operations back to normalcy. "Our airport team is available and fully dedicated to assisting everyone and ensuring a smooth journey. Be assured, we are working diligently to restore stability and normalcy as quickly as possible," IndiGo said in a series of posts on X.

"We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and patience during this time,” the airline said.

Pune-Bengaluru IndiGo flight for 5 hours

Meanwhile, another incident has come to light when an IndiGo flight from Pune to Bengaluru was delayed by five hours after the pilot refused to fly the plane packed with passengers citing completion of duty hours, has kicked up a storm on social media. Though the incident happened took place ten days ago, it came to light after the video of the alleged incident was posted online.

A video of the confrontation between the crew and passengers was posted on X by a user whose caption read, “IndiGo flight 6E from Pune to Bengaluru delayed for 5 hours after the pilot refused to take off due to his work hours ending. Passengers were left stranded with no refreshments, no compensation. Absolute disregard for customer service. How can this be allowed?” (sic).

The video shows nearly 200 shocked passengers inside the jam-packed flight arguing and pleading with a woman cabin crew after she said the pilot would not be taking off has gone viral on social media. When the passengers call out the pilot and ask him to answer their queries, he can be seen closing the cockpit door.

As the video went viral, IndiGo issued a statement explaining why the flight was delayed. IndiGo acknowledged the flight delay and cited “operational reasons related to flight duty time limitations” for the five-hour delay.

“Flight 6E 361 scheduled to operate from Pune to Bengaluru on September 24, 2024, was delayed due to operational reasons related to flight duty time limitations. Customers were kept informed about the delay and our team was available throughout the duration to assist to assist customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” IndiGo said.
