India's new coronavirus cases dip below 1-lakh mark after more than 2 months

The daily positivity rate has dropped to below 10% for the last 15 days and the weekly positivity rate has reached 5.94%. India's active Covid cases are currently at 13,03,702, but they are only 4.5% of all total cases.

India reports 86,498 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours
India reported single-day rise of 86,498 coronavirus cases, taking the total count of cases in the country to 2,89,96,473, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry. New infections dipped below the 1-lakh mark after 63 days as the positivity rate dropped to 4.62%.

India also reported its lowest tally of new fatalities in 47 days, with 2,123 deaths, taking the total toll to 3,51,309.

The daily positivity rate has dropped to below 10% for the last 15 days and the weekly positivity rate has reached 5.94%. India's active Covid cases are currently at 13,03,702, but they are only 4.5% of all total cases.


With a decline of over 97,000 cases in the last 24 hours, India's recovery rate has also improved to 94.29%.

New recoveries were at 1,82,282, outnumbering daily new cases for the 26th consecutive day. India's tally of recovered cases surged to 2,73,41,462.

India's 3,51,309 fatalities include 1,00,470 from Maharashtra, 31,920 from Karnataka, 27,356 from Tamil Nadu, 24,627 from Delhi, 21,333 from Uttar Pradesh, 16,362 from West Bengal, 15,160 from Punjab and 13,243 from Chhattisgarh.

So far, 23,61,98,726 vaccine doses have been administered as part of India's inoculation drive.
