Ranveer Allahbadia has been in hot water over alleged obscene remarks made on Samay Raina's show, India's Got Latent.
The Supreme Court is set to hear on Tuesday YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's plea linked to the FIRs filed against him for allegedly making obscene remarks on Samay Raina's show, India's Got Latent.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotishwar Singh will hear the petition.

The matter has been listed as a plea for the 'grant of interim relief' to Allahbadia, according to Bar and Bench.

Allahbadia had approached the top court on Friday, requesting an urgent hearing of the matter.

Advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia, requested an urgent hearing, citing that Allahbadia had been summoned by Assam Police. The counsel also sought the consolidation of multiple FIRs filed against the influencer across India in connection with his recent inappropriate remarks.

A bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar acknowledged the submissions but declined to grant an urgent hearing, stating that the petition would be scheduled for a hearing in two to three days.

Allahbadia's remarks about parents and sex, made during an appearance on comedian Samay Raina's show, sparked widespread controversy. As a result, several FIRs have been filed against him and others in different states across the country.

Controversy over Allahbadia's remarks, explained

An FIR has been registered against multiple individuals involved in the controversial show India’s Got Latent, following a wave of complaints triggered by inappropriate comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia. Cyber officials initially flagged a controversial video, which was later removed, and authorities instructed comedian Samay Raina to take down all associated content.

The show’s official account has been deactivated pending the conclusion of the investigation. A total of 42 individuals, including artists, producers, and influencers, have been summoned for questioning, with prominent figures like Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ranveer Allahbadia among the accused.

The investigation has intensified, and the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has declined Samay Raina’s request to record his statement via video conferencing. Raina, currently in the United States, had asked for an exemption, citing prior commitments that would prevent him from returning before March 17.

However, the Cyber Cell has insisted that he must appear in person on February 18. Meanwhile, Raina has expressed his intention to fully cooperate with the authorities, removing all videos from his channel and clarifying his position on Instagram. He emphasized that his only goal was to entertain and that he would ensure the inquiry is handled fairly.

The controversy gained further momentum after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial remark during his guest appearance on the show, leading to formal complaints against him, Raina, Makhija, and the show organisers.

In addition to FIRs in Maharashtra, the Assam Police have also filed a case against the individuals, accusing them of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit content. Allahbadia and Raina have sought to consolidate the multiple FIRs filed against them and approached the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing.
