India exports rise despite West Asia tensions, says Piyush Goyal
India’s exports have shown strong momentum in April despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday, highlighting resilience in outbound trade and growing optimism among exporters.

Speaking on the sidelines of a dialogue on 'Advancing Resilience with Climate Change', Goyal told reporters that export figures for the first three weeks of April have risen significantly compared to the same period last year. He attributed the uptick to improving global demand and the rollout of new trade agreements, which are expanding market access for Indian goods.

“Despite the war in West Asia, there is tremendous enthusiasm among Indian exporters,” he said, adding that India is poised to take confident strides in global trade as opportunities widen.

On supply chain disruptions, the minister acknowledged challenges around the Strait of Hormuz, with exporters increasingly routing shipments through alternative channels to mitigate risks.
