India's daily Covid situation in five charts

Several Indian cities have reported a spike in Covid-19 cases in the past two weeks. Here's a brief representation of India's Covid situation in 5 charts as on Thursday.

India reported 620 new Omicron cases on Thursday, taking the tally to 5,488.
Daily coronavirus cases continued to surge on Thursday with Delhi reporting its highest single-day rise ever with 28,867 new infections.

Several other cities also reported a spike, however, Mumbai reported a 16% dip with 13,702 cases as compared to 16,420 cases on Wednesday.

India reported 620 new Omicron cases on Thursday, taking the tally to 5,488.

Among the major states, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu reported the highest surge in cases compared to Wednesday at 17% and 16.5%, respectively. Maharashtra logged a marginal decrease in daily cases.

Among the major cities, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai reported a surge in cases while Mumbai reported a dip of nearly 17% and Kolkata also registered a marginal decrease.

India on Thursday logged 2,47,417 new infections, the highest in 236 days, taking the tally to 3.6 crore. The active caseload currently stands at 11,17,531, according to the Union health ministry data. The daily positivity rate has reached 13.11%.

Meanwhile, the country reported 380 deaths in 24 hours, pushing the tally to 4,85,035.
