IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai, intense rains likely in some parts
The Indian Meteorological Department said on Wednesday that moderate to intense rain can be expected in Mumbai and has been put on a Yellow alert.

Intense rain is likely at isolated parts of Navi Mumbai and Thane, which have been issued an Orange alert.
Several parts of Mumbai have reported waterlogging and are receiving incessant rains, as monsoon has begun.

A green alert implies that there is no warning, and no action is required by authorities. It also means that the forecast is of light to moderate rain. An orange alert suggests authorities to "be prepared". Whereas, a red alert is a 'warning' and asks authorities to take action.
Just a few days ago, on the 18th of July, Mumbai recorded over 250 mm of rain in three hours. At least thirty people also lost their lives in rain related incidents.
The Central and Western Railway services were also temporarily suspended in Mumbai, amid the heavy rains.
