Beijing, India's Consul General Pratik Mathur has visited the Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) and held comprehensive talks on a wide range of issues, including strengthening New Delhi-Beijing ties.

The envoy engaged in a "rich exchange" with eminent Chinese scholars, Prof Shao Yuqun, Dr Xue Lei and Dr Su Liuqiang, the Consulate said in a post on X on Friday.

The meeting covered discussions on New Delhi's vision during its historic BRICS presidency and shared perspectives on deepening India-China bilateral ties, it said.


Also, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's recent visit to India, the resumption of strong people-to-people exchanges, including the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, and the immense potential to expand cooperation in trade, technology, and tourism, apart from strengthening people-to-people exchanges was discussed, it said.

"The meeting underscored the growing interest and commitment to strengthening academic, educational and diplomatic dialogues," it said.

On Saturday, he took part in the Diplomatic Exchange Program at East China Normal University (ECNU), it said.
