Indian embassy hired US lobby firm for Operation Sindoor and trade talks in Washington

New Delhi: The FARA (Foreign Agent Registrations Act) filings in the USA by one of the lobbying firm - SHW Partners LLC, headed by President Donald Trump's former adviser Jason Miller - hired by the Indian Embassy in Washington has disclosed that the firm had assisted the Indian diplomatic mission to organise several engagements pertaining to trade deal negotiations through 2025.

The filing also disclosed the assistance rendered by the firm in setting up various meetings for the Indian ambassador as well as the Indian defence attache posted in the US during Operation Sindoor.

The filings, which are in public domain, refer to the period between April and December 2025. Meetings, calls and emails were arranged between the Indian embassy and various US officials in the State Department and National Security Council, including for high-level visits from India to Washington DC.


FARA filings are public disclosures required by the US Department of Justice for individuals or entities lobbying or acting on behalf of foreign governments, organisations, or persons to influence US policy or public opinion, requiring registration and reporting on relationships, activities, finances and materials distributed.

It may be recalled that last year, Miller had also met the US President and a few officials of his administration. SHW Partners LLC was hired by the Indian embassy in April reportedly for ₹1.8 million for a period of one year.
