Indian consulate in UAE sets up helplines due to severe rains, aiding stranded travelers. Recovery efforts underway after worst recorded rainfall causes flooding in Dubai and disrupts daily life in the region.

In response to the unusually severe rains that hammered the city and the northern Emirate of the United Arab Emirates, the Indian consulate here has established helpline lines for Indians and stranded travelers.

Tuesday's intense rains disrupted daily life in the United Arab Emirates and the neighboring countries. Flights at the congested Dubai International Airport were canceled as a result of the tarmac becoming inundated.

India's consulate provided the helpline numbers for the Indian community to call in the event of adverse weather conditions in a post on X. In case of weather-related crises, the consulate's numbers are +971501205172, +971569950590, +971507347676, and +971585754213.


In order to assist stranded travelers, the Consulate further stated that it is in contact with UAE authorities and the airlines. Travelers are receiving regular updates from airlines, and relief efforts have been launched in collaboration with Indian community organizations, the Indian Consulate stated.

We have made it easier for stranded travelers to communicate with their relatives in India. Helpline numbers will stay active until things get back to normal. According to the mission, We remain committed to serving the Indian community residing in or visiting Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

While its main airport attempted to resume regular operations and floodwater still blanketed sections of major highways and roadways, authorities in the desert nation struggled on Thursday to recover from the worst recorded rainfall ever to hit the country.

Over 142 millimeters (5.59 inches) of rain fell in Dubai in a single day on Tuesday. At Dubai International Airport, 94.7 millimeters (3.73 inches) of rain fall there annually on average. There was even greater precipitation in other parts of the nation. The drainage systems in the UAE were soon overloaded, resulting in flooding of residential areas, commercial areas, and even sections of the 12-lane Sheikh Zayed Road freeway that passes through Dubai.
