New Delhi | Bengaluru: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said the government is working on various mechanisms to draw the attention of Bangladeshi authorities on the issue of atrocities on minorities in the neighbouring nation.

His comments come as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the BJP, passed a resolution at its national executive in Bengaluru expressing solidarity with Hindus in Bangladesh.

Interacting with parliamentarians during a meeting of the consultative committee of external affairs in the national capital, Jaishankar assured them that the government is engaged with Bangladeshi authorities at the highest level, people said. On concerns raised by some MPs over the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, the Union minister informed that the Modi government is working on various mechanisms to address the issue, the people said.


Meanwhile, on the second day of its national executive meeting, the RSS passed a resolution with its joint general secretary Arun Kumar saying, "Hindus in Bangladesh are our responsibility."

RSS joint general secretary, also its points person of BJP, noted passing of the resolution, stating that Sangh's national executive urges the "government to make all possible efforts to ensure the protection, dignity and wellbeing of Hindu community in Bangladesh along with engaging the Bangladesh government in continuous and meaningful dialogue." "It is incumbent on the international organisations like United Nations and global community to take serious note of the inhumane treatment meted out to Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh and pressurise the Bangladeshi government to put a halt to these violent activities," the RSS resolution states.

The RSS also pointed fingers at the deep state and activities of Pakistan for the ongoing instability in Bangladesh.
