India will seek to build consensus on key issues of global concerns including economic and developmental at the second G20 sherpa meeting, under its Presidency, beginning March 30.

A government official said the five-day meeting at Kumarakom in Kerala will work towards building consensus on a range of cross-cutting issues of global concern and will encompass the work being done under the 13 working groups within the Sherpa track.

The deliberations of the Sherpa meetings form the basis of the Leaders' Declaration, while taking into consideration the outcome documents of various Working Group Meetings.


The outcome document, which is negotiated by the sherpas on behalf of Leaders, will be adopted by consensus by the Leaders at the New Delhi Summit slated to be held in September 2023.

India's key priorities during its presidency include taking forward concerns of developing countries and the need for mobilisation of political momentum for collective actions to take forward the international agenda especially the development and climate goals.

These include Green Development,Climate Finance & Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), Accelerated, Inclusive & Resilient Growth, Accelerating progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Technological Transformation & Digital Public Infrastructure, Multilateral Institutions for the 21st century, and Women-led development.
