New Delhi: India will host foreign ministers from Iran, the UAE, Oman, Yemen, South Africa, Mauritius and Indonesia, among other Indian Ocean Region countries, later this month amid energy supply challenges arising from the West Asia conflict.

The meeting will be held under the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), of which India is the current chair. New Delhi plans to host the IORA summit in 2027 and the ministerial meeting will help prepare for it.

The ministers are expected to focus on predictable supply chains and the smooth flow of commerce amid disruptions to energy supplies and concerns over freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

India assumed IORA chair in 2025 for a two-year term ending in 2027. India's IORA priorities build on its 'Sagar' vision, which stands for security and growth for all in the region.
