NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday criticised Pakistan for trying to politicise the Arria-formula meeting of the UN Security Council, asserting that Jammu and Kashmir has been and will always remain a matter internal to India. India has also questioned the validity of past UN resolutions on J&K that Pakistan is trying to push for implementation.

At the meeting on 'Bridging the Implementation Gap: Security Council Resolutions and Maintenance of International Peace and Security', India's permanent representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, objected to remarks made by Pakistan, which is also the co-chair.

"It is incredible that a co-chair expected to be balanced and unbiased in conduct has chosen to politicise this forum," he said. Pakistan is seeking to give a new lease of life to past UN resolutions on J&K, pushing for their implementation. India has argued that the resolutions were under Chapter VI of the UN and their expiration date is long gone.
