India has suspended all train services with Bangladesh amid the situation in the neighbouring country taking rapid twists and turns, an Indian Railways spokesman said on August 5.

Bangladesh Prime minister Sheikh Hasina earlier fled the country for an unknown location, bringing a turbulent end to the past few days' raging protests that took the country by storm.

Following Hasina's flight, Bangladesh military chief Waker uz Zaman sought to calm the tension and said in a televised address that the forces would help form an interim government.

The protesters, who had come on to the roads demanding Hasina's resignation, stormed the Prime minister's official residence following her hasty exit in a military chopper.

She was later reported to have left the country through the aerial route, and wild speculations on her likely destination is still doing the rounds in media circles.

More than 300 deaths have been reported since the unrest began in the nation. The protests had originally begun over a deeply unpopular job quota.
