PM Modi speaks with Russian president Putin, discusses recent visit to Ukraine
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin about Modi's recent visit to Ukraine. They discussed strengthening their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Both the leaders discussed measures to further strengthen Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.
"Exchanged perspectives on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and my insights from the recent visit to Ukraine. Reiterated India’s firm commitment to support an early, abiding and peaceful resolution of the conflict," said Modi in a post on X.
Modi had on Monday briefed US President Joe Biden on his visit to Ukraine and conveyed India's full support for the early return of peace to the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Indian PM recently met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Ukraine in a bid to push for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The visit garnered international attention, with the United Nations Secretary-General's office expressing hope that the Indian Prime Minister's visit could pave the way for ending the war.
PM Modi had previously met with President Zelensky on the sidelines of the 50th G7 Summit in Italy's Apulia on June 14, where they discussed the ongoing conflict and bilateral relations. Modi reiterated India's commitment to supporting a peaceful solution through dialogue and diplomacy.
