India reports 84k new cases, lowest tally in 70 days

India reported 84,332 fresh infections on Saturday, keeping below the 1-lakh mark for the 5th consecutive day as case count decreases to its lowest in 70 days, according to the data provided by Union Health Ministry.

Total cases are now 2,93,59,155 and with 4,002 new fatalities reported, overall deaths have reached 3,67,081. India's number of active cases now make up 3.68% of the total case tally as infections have decreased to 10 lakh in the country. Recovery rate in India has also improved to 95.07% as the lowest tally of new cases was reported on Saturday by the Health Ministry.

Daily positivity rate has reached 4.39%, continuing the trend of under-10% for the 19th consecutive day.


New recoveries also outnumbered new cases for the 30th consecutive day as total recovered are now 2,79,11,384. India has administered 24,96,00,304 doses so far as part of its massive inoculation drive.
