India reports 25,467 new COVID-19 cases, 354 deaths; lowest active case count in 156 days

Current active cases have dropped to the lowest since March 2020, settling at 3,19,551 - approximately 0.98% of the total case count - while the recovery rate has rise to 97.68%, the highest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 25,467 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total count to 3,24,74,773. The country's death toll has rise by 354 to 4,35,110.

Current active cases have dropped to the lowest since March 2020, settling at 3,19,551 - approximately 0.98% of the total case count - while the recovery rate has rise to 97.68%, the highest since March 2020.

The active cases are the lowest in 156 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 97.68 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.


Fresh cases dropped by 14,373 in the last 24 hours, while 16,47,526 tests were conducted on Monday. India has now conducted 50,93,91,792 tests to detect COVID-19, in total.

India has administered 58.89 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of the morning of August 24.
