India logs highest COVID-19 cases in 146 days with 1,590 new infections: Health Ministry

According to the latest update from India's Health Ministry,India has seen a surge in daily COVID-19 cases, with 1,590 new cases reported - the highest in 146 days. The number of active cases has also risen to 8,601. Tragically, the death toll due to the virus has now reached 5,30,824, with six new fatalities reported across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.

Health Ministry revealed that the daily positivity rate for COVID-19 was 1.33%, with a weekly positivity rate of 1.23%. The country's overall COVID-19 tally has now reached 4,47,02,257, with active cases accounting for only 0.02% of the total caseload.

The national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.79%, with 4,41,62,832 people having recovered from the virus. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. Furthermore, the ministry's website has reported that over 220.65 crore doses of anti-Covid vaccines have been administered to beneficiaries across the country.
