India once again asks students to leave Ukraine in interest of their safety

This is after the embassy said it was receiving a large number of calls asking about the confirmation of online classes by medical universities.

“Embassy is engaged with respective authorities for streamlining education process for Indian students,” it said in a statement.
Amid a fresh escalation in the Russia Ukraine conflict, the Indian embassy in Kyiv has issued an advisory asking all Indian nationals, including students whose stay is not deemed essential, to leave Ukraine immediately. The embassy said that, students, in the interest of their safety, should leave Ukraine temporarily, rather than wait for an official confirmation from universities.

This is after the embassy said it was receiving a large number of calls asking about the confirmation of online classes by medical universities.

“Embassy is engaged with respective authorities for streamlining education process for Indian students,” it said in a statement.


India is the highest source of international students for Ukraine followed by Morocco and Turkmenistan. Top courses pursued by them include medicine, nursing and engineering,” said Akshay Chaturvedi, founder of LeverageEdu. There are close to 19,000 Indian students studying there, he added.

Students have been advised to get in touch with respective student contractors for updates on charter flights and to continue to follow social media updates by the embassy.
