India logs 13,272 new Covid cases, active cases decline to 1,01,166

India on Saturday recorded 13,272 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 4,43,27,890, while the number of active cases decreased to 1,01,166, the Union health ministry data revealed.

The death toll from COVID-19 rose to 5,27,289 with 36 fatalities, including six deaths that Kerala reconciled, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The active cases comprise 0.23 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.58 per cent, the ministry said.


The number of active COVID-19 cases has decreased by 664 in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 3.87 percent and the daily positivity rate was 4.21 percent.

The report highlighted that 4,36,99,435 people have recovered from the illness, bringing the case mortality rate down to 1.19 percent

The nationwide vaccination campaign has so far provided 209.40 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, it added.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4, three crore on June 23 last year and four crore on January 25 this year.

There were 30 new deaths, with five apiece from Maharashtra and West Bengal; three each from Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Karnataka; two each from Bihar, Punjab and Rajasthan; and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
