New Delhi: India is keeping a close watch on protests in Iran and threats by US President Donald Trump to act against the regime and is prepared to evacuate its nationals if situation worsens.

While no foreign mission in Tehran has issued any advisory so far, the Indian government is exploring various options to evacuate nationals, including students, if protests swell and there is an external attack.

No final decision has been taken but preparations are being put in place in case a conflict breaks out, it has been learnt. Last year, India evacuated its nationals following the Israeli strike against Iran. - Dipanjan Roy Chaudhury
