India diplomatic calendar 2025: Modi's likely China trip, Putin's India visit could be highlight of New Year

New Delhi: India's diplomatic calendar for 2025 reflects New Delhi's policy of multi-alignment. It is likely to begin with the visit of Singaporean President in mid-January, followed by Indonesian President as the chief guest for the Republic Day.

Later in February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit France. The PM may also travel to Japan for the annual summit.

India is set to host the next edition of its summit with EU and the Quad summit. The focus of Quad meet will be interesting as the US President-elect Donald Trump has hinted at diluting the agenda of his predecessor, especially regarding health and climate change.


The annual summit with Russia is scheduled in India and President Vladimir Putin may visit New Delhi for the first time since the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Putin may visit India later in the year for the annual summit, sources said. Modi and Putin may also meet during BRICS summit in Brazil in July and SCO summit in China in August-September. All eyes will be on a possible meeting between Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Brazil on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. Modi's possible visit to China for the SCO summit will be closely followed.

Later in the year, the PM is expected to travel to South Africa for the G20 summit and Malaysia for the Asean summit. The PM may also visit the US to engage with Trump, it is learnt.

India and Africa might host their next edition of the summit in Ethiopia in 2025. The Chilean President might visit India in March or April.
