India cracks down on illegal betting apps, blocks 300 platforms: Report
The government has reportedly blocked around 300 illegal gambling and betting websites and applications as part of a wider crackdown on online gaming violations.

Citing government sources, ANI said that the action targets a range of platforms, including online sports betting websites, digital casinos offering games such as slots, roulette and live dealer tables, as well as betting exchanges that operate as peer-to-peer marketplaces.

Authorities have also acted against satta and matka gambling networks, along with real-money card and casino gaming apps, ANI added.

In total, about 8,400 such websites have been blocked so far, with the majority — around 4,900 — taken down after the passage of the Online Gaming Act, according to the sources.

The move comes as the government steps up enforcement against illegal online betting and gambling operations, which have been under increasing scrutiny over concerns around consumer protection and financial risks.
