After the 5th India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Delhi, a joint statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs said that India and the United States stand with Israel against terrorism. Both the countries also called for the immediate release of all remaining hostages.

"Noting horrific terrorist attacks against Israel, the Ministers reiterated that India and the US stand with Israel and called for adherence to international humanitarian law, including with regard to the protection of civilians."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.


The Ministers committed to continue coordinating with partners in the region on humanitarian assistance to meet the urgent needs of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, said the statement.

"They expressed support for humanitarian pauses and committed to continue close diplomatic coordination, including with key partners in the region, to prevent the conflict from spreading, preserve stability in the Middle East, and work toward a political solution and durable peace," it added.

The Ministers engaged in discussions on other global developments, including the Indo-Pacific, Middle East, and Ukraine. Emphasizing the escalating repercussions of the war on the worldwide economic structure and food stability, particularly impacting the global South, the ministers reiterated their commitment to providing ongoing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. They also agreed on the imperative for post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.

India sent an IAF C-17 flight carrying nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine through Egypt last month.

The material included essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, water purification tablets among other necessary items.
