Mumbai BMW accident: Whoever is guilty, action will be taken against them, says CM Eknath Shinde
Mumbai: In another tragic hit-and-run incident, a woman tragically lost her life after a BMW collided with the bike she was riding with her husband early on Sunday morning.

According to Mumbai Police, the accident happened when the couple from the fishing community was returning home after buying fish. Husband managed to jump off the speeding vehicle. The collision was so severe that the 45-year-old woman was thrown onto the car's bonnet.

"The woman died in this incident and the other person is injured," Mumbai Police stated.

As per a TOI report, rather than stopping, the driver continued for approximately 100 metres before fleeing the scene.

The injured woman was rushed to Nair Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Worli police are investigating the matter further.

The incident occurred around 5:30 am between Atria Mall and the beginning of the coastal road on the same stretch. After the incident, the driver fled from the spot with his car.

Police sources informed TOI that there were two individuals in the car at the time of the incident. "We have detained the driver and are searching for the other person," stated a police officer. The car has been seized, and authorities will notify the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to conduct a thorough examination.

Initial reports suggested that the driver may have been a minor, but police clarified that, based on their information, this was not the case.

Legal proceedings are underway, and a medical examination will determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police are also investigating whether the driver has any political connections, and ownership of the car is being scrutinised.
