In home isolation in Delhi? You can now apply online for oxygen

Delhi's Covid patients isolating at home will now be able to apply for oxygen online.

In view of a dire oxygen crisis continuing to claim lives in the capital, the Kejriwal government has started an online facility in its official site — delhi.gov.in — where one can apply for it.

The new system is likely to streamline the entire oxygen scene in the capital, the government said.


Apart from home isolation cases, the facility will be available to ambulances, non-Covid hospitals and nursing homes as well.

Those in need of oxygen will need valid photo id, Aadhaar card details, Covid positive report — and other documents like CT scan report, if available — to apply, news agency ANI reported citing the government order.

"From 06-05-2021, all persons/individuals requiring oxygen for home isolation patients will apply on delhi.gov.in/ with a valid photo id, Aadhaar card details, COVID positive report and other documents (CT Scan report, etc. if available) indicating the actual need for oxygen," the statement says.

Oxygen dealers will be identified by district authorities for the purpose. As per the order, the availability of dedicated personnel for the job will be ensured by the district magistrates.

Depending on availability, "the DM will issue a pass containing the date, time and address of the dealer/depot from where the oxygen cylinder can be issued/exchanged," the order says.

The DM will also keep an eye on equitable distribution of cylinders to make sure that deserving beneficiaries are not deprived of the service.

It will also be ensured by the authorities that dealers are getting their cylinders refilled at regular intervals at designated oxygen stations.
