In dry Bihar, special cells for VIPs if caught intoxicated publically; netizens slammed the move

New “VIP cells” have been constructed in Bihar’s Samastipur to keep VIP persons who would be caught intoxicated in public. These cells will have two beds, air conditioners, a comfortable sofa and table for the VIP persons.

The Excise Department of dry state Bihar has constructed these “VIP cells” to keep VIP persons for 24 hours.

SK Chaudhary, Excise Superintendent, has said that VIP cells are constructed to keep government employees, public representatives and elite people of society who are caught consuming alcohol. He said a trained dog will also be kept for their safety.




Bihar is a dry state where liquor has been banned since April 2016.

This first of its kind move has not gone down well with the netizens and many of them have slammed the state government for giving such treatment to VIPs.

"In a state where alcohol is banned, VIPs are given preferential treatment for consuming alcohol," one user commented on Twitter. "When alcohol is ban in Bihar then why such an arrangement for VIP," second user wrote.

"I don't understand why excise department has shared this news proudly. Its a very worrying thing," another user expressed on Twitter.
