Online delivery services, except for medicines, will be temporarily suspended. The Delhi government has also issued specific restrictions, including designated controlled and regulated zones, and limitations on certain vehicles.
Just few days before the start of G20 summit, Delhi Police has clarified that Delhi is not closed, but only a small part of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area will be subjected to restrictions during the event. This announcement comes as a response to concerns regarding the misinterpretation and miscommunication of the restrictions by certain news agencies, leading to confusion among the public.

In an official statement, Delhi Police urged news agencies to ensure accurate reporting, aligning with their advisories to eliminate any potential ambiguity. The G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled to occur from September 9 to 10 at the newly constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

While commercial activities will remain suspended from September 8 to 10 in the New Delhi district, essential services such as medical shops, hospitals, milk booths, and other vital services falling under the essential category will continue to operate. However, it's worth noting that all online delivery services, except for medicines, will be temporarily suspended during the G20 Summit, as previously announced by the Delhi Police.

Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav said that essential services like postal and medical services, along with sample collections by path labs, will be allowed to function throughout Delhi. In the New Delhi area, commercial activities will be restricted, but the delivery of medicines will remain unaffected. Valid permissions granted for essential services will be honored during this period.

Additionally, the Delhi government has issued a gazette notification outlining specific restrictions during the G20 meeting:

  • Goods vehicles carrying essential commodities like milk, vegetables, fruits, and medical supplies, with valid 'No Entry Permissions,' will be permitted to enter Delhi.
  • The entire New Delhi District will be designated as "Controlled Zone-I" from 5:00 AM on September 8, 2023, to 11:59 PM on September 10, 2023.
  • The area inside the Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg) will be considered a "Regulated Zone" during the same timeframe. Only authorized vehicles, emergency vehicles, bonafide residents, and vehicles transporting passengers to the Airport, Old Delhi, and New Delhi Railway Stations will be allowed to use the road network within New Delhi District.
  • No TSRs (cycle rickshaws) and taxis will be permitted to enter or operate within New Delhi District from 5:00 AM on September 9, 2023, to 11:59 PM on September 10, 2023.
  • All types of commercial vehicles, including buses already present in Delhi, will be allowed to travel on the Ring Road and beyond towards the borders of Delhi.
