IMD issues higher temperature warning for Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala

IMD also predicts dry weather to prevail over Telangana, with maximum temperatures expected to increase by 2-3 degrees over the next five days. Currently, according to the weather department, maximum temperatures have exceeded the 95th percentile of the climatological value at isolated pockets of Marathwada, interior Odisha, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and south coastal Tamil Nadu. These conditions are projected to persist over the same regions on March 26 and are likely to extend to areas such as Marathwada, Vidarbha, interior Odisha, and south Madhya Pradesh from March 27-29.
Moreover, a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C is highly likely over Northwest India during the next three days, with no significant change thereafter. Additionally, a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C is expected over East & Central India and interior Maharashtra over the next five days. However, no significant change in maximum temperatures is anticipated over the rest of the country during this period. Hot and humid weather conditions are expected to prevail over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Kerala & Mahe from March 26-29, 2024.
Rainfall forecast
Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall has been recorded at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. Similar precipitation has been observed at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
In terms of rainfall forecast, a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam & neighborhood and a trough from northeast Madhya Pradesh to southeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels are expected to cause widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning over several regions, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim .A fresh Western Disturbance is also expected, leading to scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall/snowfall over various regions, including Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from March 27-29, according to the IMD.
