The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Palghar and hilly areas of Pune, warning of extremely heavy rainfall on July 26. An orange alert has also been issued for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, and Satara, signalling the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rain in these regions.

According to IMD, the rainfall in red alert zones may be "heavy to very heavy at a few places with extremely heavy showers at isolated spots." Orange alert areas are expected to receive heavy rain at isolated locations.

The alert comes amid continued rainfall in Mumbai, which caused waterlogging in several parts of the city on Friday, disrupting daily life. Authorities temporarily shut down an underpass due to flooding, while slow-moving traffic added to commuter woes across key routes.

The weather department has urged residents and local authorities to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as rainfall is expected to intensify.
