IIM student found hanging in Ranchi with hands tied on the back, murder suspected

A student of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi was reportedly found hanging in the hostel of Institute on Tuesday. As per reports, it may be a case of murder as the student's hands were found tied at the back with a rope. However, the police is probing the incident from all perspective including the murder and suicide. No suicide note has been found as of yet.

The deceased, identified as Shivam Pandey, was a resident of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Pandey's room was on the fifth floor of the hostel.

On receiving information of the incident from the institute authorities, the police reached the spot and retrieved the body from the hostel room. The body has been sent for autopsy to know the exact cause of the death.


Police have also informed the student's family members about the incident.

Police have started questioning students living in neighbouring rooms and their mobile phones and notebooks are being checked.

As per police, the correct information will be available only after the post-mortem report.
