Kolkata: A young woman, who was allegedly raped at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta boys' hostel on Friday, reportedly did not appear to record her confidential statement on Monday in front of the judicial magistrate.

Police sources said that the victim and her family members are allegedly not cooperating with the investigation. The victim did not undergo a medical test earlier on Saturday, police sources said.

A nine-member SIT has been formed by Kolkata Police on Sunday to probe the alleged rape inside IIM-Calcutta campus and CCTV footages have been sought from the institute, people in the know said.


A young woman has allegedly been raped in the students’ hostel of premier management Institute, Indian Institute of Management –Calcutta (IIM-C) at Joka in Kolkata on Friday evening. In a twist of events, the rape victim’s father told media persons on Saturday that his daughter was not tortured or assaulted, instead she fell from a vehicle. The victim’s father had also said that someone forcibly asked her daughter to write the police complaint.

It has been reportedly learnt that the accused Parmanand Jain has "reportedly" spiked the soft drinks and drinking water which was given to the 'victim'. The arrested accused Premanand Mahaveer Toppannavar @Parmanand Jain (26) is from Karnataka and he was a second year student of IIM-C. He was produced in a Kolkata court yesterday afternoon and remanded to police custody.
