IAS Tina Dabi appointed as Barmer District Collector, husband Pradeep Gawande takes charge in neighbouring Jalore

In a recent transfer list, the Rajasthan government has appointed IAS officer Tina Dabi as the District Collector of Barmer, a key border district. Previously, Dabi served as the District Collector of Jaisalmer, another border district, from July 2022 to July 2023. Jaisalmer is the largest district in Rajasthan, spanning 38,401 square kilometers, while Barmer is the second largest with 28,387 square kilometers. Both districts share borders with Pakistan, making them strategically important.

Tina Dabi Returns After Maternity Leave

Tina Dabi had earlier requested a non-field posting in Jaipur due to her pregnancy, and the state government accepted her application. After giving birth to a son, she went on maternity leave and was assigned the role of ECS Commissioner upon her return. Now, post-maternity, she resumes her role as a district collector, this time in Barmer.

During her tenure in Jaisalmer, Dabi worked on the rehabilitation of families displaced by land evictions in Pakistan. Her efforts left a lasting impression on the people of Jaisalmer, and she is now entrusted with managing Barmer district.

Pradeep Gawande Posted to Jalore

IAS officer Pradeep K. Gawande, Tina Dabi's husband, has been appointed as the District Collector of Jalore, a neighboring district of Barmer. The couple will now oversee two adjacent districts, with Jalore's headquarters only 150 kilometers away from Barmer. Gawande, who previously served as the District Collector of Churu, takes on his second appointment as a district collector.

Tina Dabi Marriage and Professional Background

Tina Dabi, who topped the 2015 IAS batch, hails from Madhya Pradesh, while her husband, Pradeep K. Gawande, is from Maharashtra. The couple married in April 2022, marking a union of two high-profile IAS officers.
