IAF deploying two Mi-17V5 helicopters to douse fire in Lunglei district

Indian Air Force is deploying two Mi-17V5 helicopters, equipped with Bambi Bucket, to douse the major fire in the Lunglei district and adjoining areas in Mizoram.

Indian Air Force is deploying two Mi-17V5 helicopters, equipped with Bambi Bucket, to douse the major fire in the Lunglei district and adjoining areas in Mizoram. Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has sought help from the Indian Air Force (IAF) as well as the locals in dousing the major forest fire in the Lunglei district and adjoining area.

A senior official, who did not want to be named said that firefighters managed to douse the fire but it got spread in newer areas as the strong wind was there. “There is no casualty as of now". A major fire broke out in Shirui peak in Manipur's Ukhrul district last month. In January this year, the ecologically sensitive Dzukou Valley along the Nagaland-Manipur border witnessed the fire and after several days’ firefighters managed to douse it.
