Hyderabad hotel offers free haleem on first day of Ramzan; Here's what happened next

The Hyderabad Police had to resort to lathicharge on March 12 to disperse a crowd gathered at a restaurant in Malakpet over a free Haleem offer, ANI reported. The restaurant, 'Aazebo,' had announced free Haleem to mark the first day of Ramzan, leading to an uncontrollable crowd and a massive traffic jam in the area, prompting the restaurant management to contact the police, as per a PTI report.


The incident occurred during the restaurant's inauguration, highlighting the challenges faced by authorities in managing public gatherings during festive occasions.


Hundreds of people congregated at the restaurant for the free Haleem offer, causing chaos and disrupting traffic, as shown in a video shared by PTI.

According to Times of India, Malakpet inspector U Srinivas said that a case would be registered for disrupting the free movement of traffic. “The hotel management did not inform police in prior about the free offer nor did they take any permission. For creating disturbance to free movement of traffic a case will be registered," as quoted by TOI.

Meanwhile, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind announced the sighting of the Ramzan moon in various parts of India, declaring the commencement of fasting on March 12, 2024, as reported by PTI. This marks the start of a month-long fasting period observed by millions of Muslims globally.
