Hundreds of Assam Police aspirants stage protest in Guwahati on Monday

A total of 1,80,622 candidates had applied for 9,171 posts of various types of constables such as armed, unarmed, home guards, former militants, radio communications and fire and emergency services.

Hundreds of aspirants of Assam police constable exam during 2019-20 staged protest in Guwahati on Monday.

These protestors were marching towards the Director General of police office in Guwahati while they were detained by the police. These people were protesting demanding the result of the exam.

A total of 1,80,622 candidates had applied for 9,171 posts of various types of constables such as armed, unarmed, home guards, former militants, radio communications and fire and emergency services.

The protestors demanded the result must be out before April 26. The Assam Police has deferred written examination for over 9,000 constable posts, first advertised nearly four years ago, as the number of candidates called for the test had fallen below the ratio of 1:5 against each post.

A candidate said, “The authorities are conducting the examination on April 26 without declaring our written exam result. We had an exam in 2020. We demand that our result should be out as soon as possible.”
