IMD issues warning for hailstorm and rainfall spell over northwest India
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), northwest India will experience thunderstorm, hailstorm, and rainfall activity from March 23 to 25, while central and adjoining eastern India will experience it from March 24 to 25. However, hailstones up to 3 inches in diameter can cause severe damage to your property, crops, and livestock. To prepare for a hailstorm, take these five precautions:
2/6
Check the weather forecast
Stay informed about the weather forecast and look for any warnings or alerts of a possible hailstorm. This will give you time to prepare and take necessary precautions.
3/6
Secure outdoor items
If you have any outdoor furniture, garden tools, or other loose items outside, bring them inside or secure them to prevent them from being damaged or blown away by the hailstones.
4/6
Protect your car
If you have a garage or a carport, park your car inside. If you don't have a covered parking spot, cover your car with a thick blanket or a car cover to protect it from the hailstones.
5/6
Stay indoors
If you're at home, stay inside and away from windows. Hailstones can be dangerous and may break through windows. If you must go outside, wear protective clothing and use caution.
6/6
Have an emergency kit ready
Prepare an emergency kit that includes essential items such as a first-aid kit, flashlight, batteries, and a portable radio. In case of a power outage or other emergency, you'll have the necessary supplies to stay safe and comfortable.
