After a prolonged dry spell in most of January, Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience snowfall starting Thursday, as per the local Meteorological office. Isolated areas in the higher hills of the state are highly likely to witness snowfall on Thursday, followed by some areas in both higher and lower hills experiencing snow and rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

The entire state is expected to witness snowfall and rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms in isolated areas, on Sunday.

So far, Himachal Pradesh has recorded only 0.1 mm of precipitation this year, according to the weather office.


On Tuesday, the weather remained predominantly dry across the state, with dense fog reported in the lower hills and plains. In Shimla, the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.4 degrees Celsius, while Dharamshala, the winter capital, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius.

Manali, a popular tourist destination, experienced a night temperature of minus 0.7 degrees Celsius, while Kufri and Mandi recorded temperatures of 0.1 degrees and 0.2 degrees, respectively.

Kukumseri village in the Lahaul and Spiti district claimed the title of the coldest place in the state, with a minimum temperature of minus 8.1 degrees Celsius.
