A segment of the roadway was missing in videos, making it hard for vehicles to get to the other side and causing challenges for people and security forces who rely on the highway in this difficult terrain.
Surface communication to the Dibang Valley district in the northeastern state was disrupted after a section of the crucial roadway connecting Roing in lower Dibang Valley to Anini was damaged.
The road between Hunli and Anini, the Dibang Valley district headquarters, was destroyed by the landslide on Wednesday night, he said.
“The district administration has deployed workers and adequate machinery to repair the road on a war footing. It will take a couple of days to restore traffic movement,” Anini additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Dhurbajyoti Borah said.
He did, however, say that efforts were underway to have small vehicles on the road by Thursday evening.
"Disturbed to learn the inconvenience being caused to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini. Instructions have been issued to restore the connectivity at the earliest as this road connects Dibang Valley to the rest of the country." Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu tweeted.
