High-level six member French delegation reaches Kolkata to explore business opportunities

Kolkata: A high-level six member French delegation has reached Kolkata, around one month after the new BJP government has come in Bengal and is scheduled to meet State Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta on Tuesday .

The delegation is looking into the potential areas of cooperation and likely to hold a conclave in Kolkata. At a later date, the delegation is likely to meet Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

The high-level French delegation in Bengal include Florent Mangin : Head and Regional Economic advisor, Embassy of France, India; Dana Brahimi Deputy SER embassy of France, India; Estelle David, Head Business France embassy of France; Payal Kanwar, Director General - Indo french chamber of Commerce; Rishika Roy Deputy Director IFCCI India; Thierry Morel Consul general of france, in Kolkata; Yazid Soussi Political advisor and cooperation officer French consulate; Calypso Cassier -Deschamps cooperation Officer French Consulate. The delegation was accompanied by Anjita Roychaudhury Press attaché and diplomatic liaison.

The delegation today met state Finance Secretary to explore the options for chalking out the measures for setting up Indo-French Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata for the eastern India.

The high-level French business delegation, include top French diplomats and business chambers, including Florent Mangin, Head and Regional Economic advisor, Embassy of France in India, Dana Brahimi Deputy SER embassy of France-India, Estelle David, Head Business France embassy of France, Director General -Indo-French chamber of Commerce, Thierry Morel Consul general of France in Kolkata, among others.

The six member French delegation visiting Kolkata is keen to meet and fact find the areas of potential cooperation, understand the new perspective from the new government which has come to power and its focus.

“The delegation will also look forward to the state budget on June 22 and seek to know the possibilities and opportunities in freight & industry corridors, port, defence, agriculture and cold chain management, tourism and logistics. A conclave will be held post this set of state level interactions with stakeholders,” people in the know told ET
