The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought response from former Yes Bank MD Rana Kapoor on publishing house Penguin Random House India's appeal against a trial court order that restrained it from publishing and distributing a book on Kapoor.

The book titled "The Banker Who Crushed His Diamonds: The Yes Bank Story" written by Furquan Moharkan, a journalist, was published in February 2021. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri while issuing notice to Kapoor posted the matter for further hearing on July 24.

Kapoor, who is accused in the ₹466-crore Yes Bank scam, had moved the trial court stating that the book makes false allegations against him which are extremely prejudicial to the ongoing investigation.

On December 22, 2021, the Delhi court in an ex-parte order restrained the publication and distribution of the book. The trial court observed that the book portrayed Kapoor in bad light and had the potential to prejudicially affect his reputation.

This was challenged by the publishing house in the HC on the grounds that Kapoor knew about the proposed publication of the Book as far back as June 2020.
