Mumbai in July has received 958.4 mm of rainfall so far, after receiving 961 mm in June.
Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra on Thursday, causing areas to flood and leaving several parts of the city waterlogged.

There have been reports of mudslides and boulder crashes, severely affecting long distance and local train services, officials said on Thursday. Some long distance trains were held up at various locations and special buses were being arranged for the stranded train passengers.

Due to waterlogging, Mumbai local train services between Umbermali railway station and Kasara were halted, said the Chief Public Relation Officers (CPRO) of the Central Railway.

Mumbai in July has received 958.4 mm of rainfall so far, after receiving 961 mm in June. The city in an average year receives half that amount at 493 mm of rain in the month of June.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued a 'red alert' for five Maharashtra districts, including Raigad and Pune, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places for the next two days.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IMD had predicted intense to very intense rain in Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, and Raigad districts.
