Jaipur: Heavy rainfall soaked parts of Rajasthan in the 24 hours until Thursday evening, with the meteorological department predicting more rainfall in the Bharatpur division and adjoining areas on July 10.

Badesar and Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district and Bayana in Bharatpur district recorded the highest rainfall of 9 centimetres each in the 24-hour period, according to the Met office.

Several places in Dausa, Baran, Bhilwara and Ajmer districts received between 3 and 6 centimetres of rainfall.


Pilani in Jhunjhunu recorded 10 mm of rainfall, and Jalore received 0.5 mm.

Meanwhile, the day temperatures remained above the 40-degree mark in some places.

Sriganganagar was the hottest place with a day temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Jaisalmer at 40.4 degrees Celsius.

In its forecast for Friday, the Met department said moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at several places.

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue at isolated places in the Bharatpur division and adjoining districts on Friday, while rainfall activity is expected to decline in the rest of the state, it said.

From July 11, rainfall activity is likely to decrease across most parts of Rajasthan for about a week. Light rain is expected only at isolated places in the northern and eastern regions, while weather conditions are likely to remain mainly dry over the rest of the state, the Met office said.
