Heavy rains lash parts of Gurugram, leads to waterlogging and traffic disruptions
Heavy rains lashed Gurugram on Sunday, causing massive water logging and traffic jams in several areas, including the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway. The district administration reported that Gurugram received 53 mm of rainfall by 8:30 am, with some areas recording over 80 mm, severely disrupting normal life.

Key areas such as the IFFCO Chowk and Gurugram Sector 5 were heavily impacted by the downpour. Visuals showed vehicles navigating waterlogged roads, and commuters were seen wading through flooded streets. The heavy rain also led to the closure of subways and underpasses for non-motorized transport (NMT) and pedestrians, forcing residents to stay indoors and reschedule their weekend plans.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Center New Delhi has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of Haryana, including Ambala, which also experienced heavy rains on Sunday.

"Fairly widespread to widespread light-moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh during 10th -16th; Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, West Uttar Pradesh on 10th, 11th and during 14th - 16th; Punjab on 10th and 11th; Haryana-Chandigarh during 10th, 11th and 14th August," IMD said in a press release.

With heavy downpours hitting the national capital as well, several areas of Delhi faced waterlogging, exacerbating the traffic situation and inconveniencing the residents.
