A bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said that the temperature in Chennai (Meenambakkam), Erode, Karur, Nagapattinam and Vellore districts in the state will be above normal between two and three degrees Celsius.
Likewise, temperatures in Chennai (Nungambakkam), Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari, Karaikal, Dindigul, Madurai, Puducherry, Salem and Trichy districts will also be above normal between 1.6 degrees Celsius and three degrees Celsius.
Vellore recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius, which is 108.32 degree fahrenheit, over Tamil Nadu on Friday. Udhagamandalam recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celcius in the hill areas. The temperature of more than 15 districts has crossed 100 degree fahrenheit.
The Met department further said that heavy rain at isolated places with thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds is likely to occur over Nilgiris, Theni, Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Dindigul districts from Saturday till May 4. Oothu in Tirunelveli recorded maximum rainfall of 8 cm in the last 24 hours.
