HDFC Bank on Monday handed over 100 Point of Sale (PoS) machines to BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta to help the civic body collect fines from citizens violating Covid-19 related protocols notified by the government.

Covid-19 daily caseload has been on a rise in Bengaluru, and has breached 10,000 mark on Sunday throwing a formidable challenge to the authorities to break the chain. The BBMP has deployed its own uniformed marshals who enforce the Covid-19 protocols by visiting public places and collecting prescribed fines from violators.

In a tweet, Gupta urged members of the public to join the civic body in controlling the spread of the virus by following the guidelines.
