The Calcutta high court has for the second time in a year dissolved the CBI's special investigation team setup to probe the school staff recruitment case in West Bengal. During a hearing of the HC monitored probe on Tuesday, justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay directed the removal of a CBI official, mentioning him by name in court. The officer should not handle the files of the case from Tuesday, the judge said and directed CBI to propose the name of a new officer. Justice Gangopadhyay is known for a series of orders in the WBSSC case.

The CBI inspector was not present when the judge ordered his removal. The court was informed that he was ill. The judge said that he was dissatisfied with the CBI probe. Last November, the HC had removed two officers from the special investigation team. The court appointed four new investigators and appointed a DIG to head the team. Justice Gangopadhyay's intervention had earlier led to Enforcement Directorate 'unearthing' money in the case and led to arrest of education minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee.
