Badshah summoned by Haryana Women's Commission over 'Tateeree' song lyrics
The Haryana State Commission for Women has summoned rapper Badshah over allegedly objectionable lyrics in his Haryanvi track Tateeree, taking suo motu cognisance of complaints that the song contains language derogatory to women.

In a notice issued this week, the commission asked the artist to appear before it and explain the intent and content of the song after concerns were raised that the lyrics promote indecency and objectification.

The controversy had been building since the song's release in the beginning of the month. Badshah's real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia. The hearing is scheduled for March 13.

The action follows complaints from local groups in Panipat and other parts of the state, who alleged that the track’s lyrics are offensive and inappropriate. Taking note of the issue, the commission said it would examine whether the content violates norms relating to dignity and representation of women.
