Following the communal violence in Haryana, the Superintendent of Police of the Nuh region has been transferred to a different region, according to an official order.

The order, sent out on Friday, directed that Nuh's Superintendent of Police Varun Singla was being made the Superintendent of Police, Bhiwani. Reports say that Singla was on leave when clashes broke out in the district.

Currently, the Nuh region is being overseen by Narendra Bijarniya in the absence of Singla. Bijarniya will continue in the role, according to a government order issued Wednesday by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T V S N Prasad.


Bijarniya, SP, Bhiwani, was also functioning as OSD to Additional DGP (law and order), in addition to his present duties to assist in maintaining the law and order situation in Nuh and surrounding areas, has been transferred and posted as SP, Nuh.

The unrest began Monday when mobs hurled stones at a religious procession and set cars alight in the district of Nuh. Arson and vandalism broke out the following evening in parts of nearby Gurugram.

Authorities imposed a curfew, suspended internet service and deployed thousands of cops, Tuesday to parts of Haryana after six people were killed due to the clashes.
