Looking back at his own journey in public life, Modi reminded the audience how young the country’s current generation is. “When I took oath as the CM for the first time, many of you had not even been born. In 2014, when I took oath as the PM, most of you would have been called children,” he said. Yet, he added that his faith in young people has never changed, saying, “Your capability, talent and energy give me energy too.”
Reiterating this trust, Modi said he had always believed in the younger generation, both as Chief Minister and now as Prime Minister. He told the gathering that India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation depends on them. “You are all holding the reins to the goal of Viksit Bharat,” he said, calling the years leading up to 2047 a “golden phase” for today’s youth. “Your capability will become the capability of India, and your success will take India’s success to new heights.”
The Prime Minister also linked the event to National Youth Day, which is marked on 12 January, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He said Vivekananda’s ideas continue to inspire young people even today. “His life teaches us how to live with the spirit of ‘Nation First’ and how every effort should bring welfare to society and the country,” Modi said.
Modi highlighted the growing role of young Indians in shaping policy and development, noting the massive participation in the Viksit Bharat initiatives. He pointed out that lakhs of young people had registered and shared their ideas, calling it an unprecedented example of youth engagement.
Praising India’s Gen Z, Modi said the discussions on topics such as women-led development and youth participation in democracy showed how committed the “amrit peedhi” is to building a developed India. “India’s Gen Z is full of creativity,” he said.
The Prime Minister also spoke about how India’s cultural heritage can be blended with modern industries. He said the Ramayana and the Mahabharata hold enormous potential in the global gaming market. “By bringing these stories into the world of gaming, we can create new experiences,” he said, adding that “Hanuman alone can power an entire gaming universe.”
According to Modi, this mix of culture and technology would help India reach a global audience. “Our culture will reach the world, while modern technology will also be put to use,” he said.
